Hi Karen,
Eda Linn, Dorothy’s one sponsor, was my mom. She would have been nineteen at the time. I think Arvida is the friend that Mom and others called “Pete”. My memory of this is a bit foggy. Perhaps someone else will know?

Interesting! So nice that the church records give the names of the sponsors. I haven’t researched Arvida, but I wonder if that wasn’t Arvida Purdy, who I remember. Thanks for writing, Sharon.
Karen,
I don’t know if Arvida was Arvida Purdy, but I know that “Pete” lived on east side, the Ohio side, of the state line road before it intersects with Ohio’s Oregon road—-South of where Bob and Gladys Stuber lived on the Indiana side and I believe Tom Stuber might still live there now. Her married name was “Pete” Bollenbacher, (45 years away from the community—too many years in between to make me a great memory source!
I’m also the person who wrote you about the Tin Peddler murder of young Mary Arabelle Secaur. Eric Stephenson now farms my parent’s farm.

I would say this was the Arveda I remember. She was the daughter of Otto and Margaret (Schott) Bollenbacher and married Lawrence Purdy.
