Translation: Georg Linn, born 29 May 1875, died 28 November 1908.

Georg Linn was born in Liberty Township, Mercer County, Ohio, on 29 May 1875 to Phillip and Margaret (Miller) Linn, according to his tombstone and his burial record at Zion Chatt. His Mercer County Probate birth record indicates he was born 3 March 1875. [1] His parents were born in Germany and his mother Margaret was the sister of my great-grandfather Jacob Miller.

In 1880 Georg, age 5, lived with his parents Phillip, 40, and Margaret, 34; his sister Mary, 8; and his grandmother Mary Miller, 68. Mary (Kessler) Miller was his maternal grandmother and was also my great-great-grandmother, the mother of Jacob Miller and Margaret (Miller) Linn. [2]

Georg Linn married Katharina Hiller on 14 January 1902 at Zion Chatt, married by Rev. R.V. Smith. The church records indicate that Georg was 27 years of age and from Liberty Township and that Katharina was 20 years of age and was from Adams County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Jacob & Martha (Sundmacher) Hiller. Although they were married at Zion Chatt they obtained their marriage license in Adams County, Indiana. [3]

Below is the wedding photo of Georg and Katharina. My grandfather’s sister Mary Miller, Georg’s first cousin, is standing but I do not know who the other man is.

The Hillers attended Zion Chatt and Katherina Hiller was baptized and confirmed there. Georg and Katherina attended Zion Chatt after their marriage.

Georg Linn died 19 November 1908 of a brain infection or brain fever, at the age of 33 years, 5 months, 29 days. He was buried on the 21st and was survived by his wife and two daughters.

Georg’s widow Katharina died of consumption on 22 May 1910, leaving their two young daughters without parents. In 1910 their daughters Clara and Maria were living with their maternal grandparents Jacob and Martha Hiller in Jefferson Township, Adams County, Indiana. [4]

Georg and Katharina Linn had the following children:
Clara Margaretha Martha Linn (1903-1971), married Homer W. Debolt
Maria Katharina Linn (1904-1975), married Rudolph Debolt
Agnes Elvira (1907-1908)

The two surviving sisters married brothers, the sons of David & Mary (Hartzog) Debolt.
